Nextwave’s 2022 Website

Let me tell you about the time my website got nuked.

Completely blew up. Utterly destroyed.

Alderaan meets Death Star level gone.

Alderaan, meet Death Star

It all started several years ago when a client contacted me and told me there was some issue with their website. I can’t remember what it was, but after looking into it we decided to restore a backup, which is normally a pretty rote task.

I put an order in with one of my server admins and didn’t think anything else about it.

Until I pulled up my own site, that is.

They had restored my client’s site… over my own website. And in the process my own site’s backups had been obliterated.

Of course I was glad it was my own site that had gotten wiped out and not a client’s site, but I was still dismayed, to put it mildly.

I realize that in writing this I’m admitting to a huge failure on the part of my company, but I feel confident in telling you this because we learned from it. We’ve got multiple securities in place now should anything like that ever happen again. (Which, for the record, it hasn’t.)

At any rate, I had to rebuild my own company’s website from scratch. I got something decent together pretty quickly and added to it over time, but it wasn’t quite what I wanted.

It was hard to find the time to really devote to it because I was so busy.

Anyone who has built websites for other people knows that the number one thing that delays a launch is waiting on the owner to get content to you.

I get it. It was a large part of my own delay.

That and being busy building other people’s sites. “The cobbler’s children have no shoes,” ya know.

And having four kids (though they do at least have plenty of shoes).

I know, I go to the kids thing a lot.

At any rate, sometime before the end of last year I started getting more serious about rebuilding my site.

I’ve finally got it to a state I’m okay with. It’s not perfect. Hell, it’s not even as nice as some of the more recent sites we built for clients. But I like it.

One thing I really wanted to do with the new site is to emphasize that we’re not just a web design company. We’re not just a digital marketing company either.

Our focus now is on really partnering up with our clients to help them grow their business. In many cases that involves a digital marketing strategy, because that’s where the money is. (According to Statistica, $602.5 billion will be spent on digital advertising by the end of 2022.)

But we go beyond that.

We’ve helped companies consolidate their task management and develop an SOP.

We strategized a software product launch.

We’ve shown people how to use social media and email marketing to reach new people and connect with them on a genuine level.

That kind of work is what we do, and we enjoy it.
